In June/July 2026, a Mission Team from Hopewell United Methodist Church in Downingtown, PA, travelled to South Africa to spend time with Mosaic families raising orphaned and vulnerable children across our three communities.

The team visited Mosaic Community Centre in Paarl Valley, serving alongside the local Afterschool Holiday Program. In preparation for Mosaic’s Child Protection Community Color Run/Walk, the group made awareness posters together with the children, followed by the Color Run itself that Friday — a joyful event that drew in the surrounding community and closed with songs of praise and a prayer circle led byHopewell’s Lead Pastor, Amy Banka.

The following week, 25 high school Mosaic learners and 6 Mosaic team members joined the Hopewell Mission Team for an educational outing in Cape Town. The day included the Long March to Freedom exhibit, a visit to the Desmond Tutu Museum, a cable car ride up Table Mountain, lunch on Signal Hill, and an afternoon at the V&A Waterfront — a chance for the group to engage with South Africa’s history and take in the beauty the city is known for.

The visit was a blessing and an encouragement to our learners and team alike, offering meaningful opportunities to learn, grow, and reach their full potential!
